Monday, February 2, 2009 - MAQIP Approval Postponed The Final MAQIP, February 2009 (subject to approval by the Board) can be found at: http://www.portofoakland.com/pdf/maqip090203.pdf The MAQIP was revised to reflect recent Board actions including those to postpone use of Port funds for the Bay Area Air Quality Management District's truck retrofit program and adoption of a user fee. There are also references to the volatile US and global economies and how that is impacting the Port's finances and overall business. Additionally there are some minor edits. The Port of Oakand's Final Maritime Air Quality Improvement Plan (MAQIP) was presented to the Board of Port Commissioners' Maritime Committee for review on January 29, 2009. The Board of Port Commissioners' Maritime Committee members decided to postpone review of the Port of Oakland's Maritime Air Quality Improvement Plan (MAQIP). Staff was directed to complete a final round of consultation with the MAQIP Co-Chairs and with the Interagency group. The Port expects to complete these meetings by the end of February and return to the Maritime Committee in March. Therefore, the MAQIP will not be considered at the February 3 Board meeting. Please note this change if you were planning to attend the meeting. If you have any questions about the approval process for the MAQIP, please call Ann Whittington at 510-627-1559 or email awhittington@portoakland.com |
