CONCUR Principals and Associates regularly present briefings or guest lectures at events hosted by professional associations, universities, business organizations, and community groups. Among the topics we have addressed are: - applying negotiation techniques to resolve tough environmental disputes - using mutual gains bargaining to build partnerships for sustainability - bridging science and public policy - creating incentives for environmental enhancement and compliance - discovering sources of innovation in environmental policy - devising strategies to bind parties to their negotiated commitments Over the past 20 years, CONCUR has presented guest lectures at organizations such as UC Berkeley, Stanford, NYU, MIT, PG&E, Electrocorps, New Zealand, US EPA Headquarters and the US Department of Interior, USAID, and leading public policy institutions in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We blend key elements of theory with concrete, real-world examples. We work with convenors to ensure that our cases mesh with the day-to-day flow of work and learning withing the organizations. In some instances, we present role playing simulations to introduce or reinforce key elements of principled negotiation. CONCUR also regularly presents to dispute resolution organizations including the ABA ADR section, the Environment and Public Policy Section of ACR, and the USIECR conferences. We see these as important opportunities to reflect on our work, to advance best practices in our field, inspire potential colleagues, and to stimulate thinking on new directions in the field and public policy and environmental decision-making more broadly.
